Arizona is a magical place. You can be in Sonoran desert, with javelinas and saguaro cactus, and then drive three hours and be in high chaparral mountains, with fir trees and ski resorts. Drive another hour or so and you find yourself looking into a magnificent hole in the ground called the Grand Canyon. Elsewhere, you can find a town on the Old Route 66 called Oatman, where burros are allowed to roam freely through the streets. Or you'll be in Yuma, drinking a milkshake filled with chopped medjool dates plucked off the tree right outside. Or you'll be standing on a corner in Winslow, next to a bronze statue of a musician, gazing at a painting of a girl (my Lord!) in a flatbed Ford. And you're welcome for that Eagles song earworm.
These sets of three stitch markers are in colors that reflect cities in Arizona.
The orange set is inspired by the red rocks of Sedona, where you can hike, eat delicious food, and experience the spiritual vortexes that surround the area (or not).
The turquoise set is insipired by Bisbee, southeast of Tucson, where some of the best turquoise and copper has been mined for centuries. And there's great food there, as well.
The white set is inspired by Quartzsite, a tiny dot on the I-10 west of Phoenix, where it is suggested you stop as you won't get a chance again until you reach the California border. While the food in Quartzsite is limited to fast food, they have a fantiastic gem and rock show there yearly that draws international visitors.
Each set of three markers features a pair of colored stone markers, and the third marker has a small chunk of turquoise. You can use them to denote special stitches, the beginning of a row, what have you. Made from gold jump rings, the glass seed bead is glued over the joints to ensure smooth moving. All stitch markers are shipped in a zipper bag in a padded envelope.
